Village Data is in ALPHA. By using this service, you accept that your data may be lost, your account may be deleted, and developers can access all your data. This is experimental software with no warranties.

Terms and Conditions

1. Alpha Software Agreement

BY USING VILLAGE DATA, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING:

THIS IS ALPHA SOFTWARE. It is incomplete, unstable, and actively under development.
YOUR DATA MAY BE PERMANENTLY DELETED at any time, without warning, for any reason including but not limited to: system updates, database migrations, bug fixes, or development needs.
YOUR ACCOUNT MAY BE DELETED OR RESET during development cycles or system maintenance.
DEVELOPERS HAVE FULL ACCESS to all data you store, create, or input into the system for debugging and development purposes.
NO BACKUPS ARE GUARANTEED. You are solely responsible for maintaining copies of any important data.
THE SERVICE MAY BE DISCONTINUED at any time without notice.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Village Data ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Village Data.

3. No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Warranties of merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement
Data accuracy or reliability
Uninterrupted or error-free operation
Security of your data

4. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

Village Data and its developers, officers, employees, and agents shall NOT be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, or any other commercial damages or losses.
You expressly agree that your use of the Service is at your sole risk.
Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim (which during alpha is $0).

5. Data Loss Acknowledgment

YOU SPECIFICALLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT:

Data loss is expected and likely during the alpha phase
You will NOT hold Village Data responsible for any data loss
You will maintain your own backups of all important data
You will NOT store any data that you cannot afford to lose
You waive any right to compensation for lost data

6. Developer Data Access

During the alpha phase, you grant Village Data and its developers:

Full access to view, analyze, and use any data you input or store in the Service
Permission to use your data for debugging, testing, and development purposes
The right to share your data with third-party services (OpenAI, Supabase, etc.) as necessary for the Service to function
Permission to use anonymized or aggregated data for analytics and improvements

DO NOT upload any data you consider confidential, private, or sensitive.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

Store or transmit any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
Store sensitive personal information including but not limited to: Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, health records, passwords, or credit card information
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or data
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
Use the Service for any commercial purpose without authorization
Violate any applicable laws or regulations

8. Account Termination

We reserve the right to:

Terminate or suspend your account at any time, for any reason, without notice
Delete all data associated with your account upon termination
Refuse service to anyone for any reason
Reset all accounts during major system updates

9. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you create and upload to the Service. However, by using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, and transmit your content as necessary to provide the Service and for development purposes during the alpha phase.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service uses third-party providers including OpenAI, Supabase, and cloud hosting providers. Your use of the Service is also subject to their terms of service. We are not responsible for the actions, content, or data handling practices of these third parties.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Village Data, its developers, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these terms.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. During the alpha phase, we may make significant changes without individual notice.

13. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
