1. Alpha Version Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Village Data is currently in ALPHA testing. This means:

Data Loss: Your data may be permanently deleted at any time without prior notice due to system updates, bugs, or infrastructure changes.
No Backups Guaranteed: We do not guarantee data backups or recovery capabilities during the alpha phase.
Service Interruption: The service may be unavailable, modified, or discontinued at any time.
Account Deletion: Accounts may be deleted or reset during development cycles.

2. Developer Access to Data

During the alpha phase, developers and authorized team members have direct access to all user data, including:

All datasets you create, upload, or modify
All chatbot configurations and conversations
Your account information and usage patterns
Any content you input via text or voice dictation
Metadata, logs, and analytics data

This access is necessary for debugging, development, and improving the service. Do not upload or enter any data you consider private, confidential, or sensitive.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us:

Account Information: Email address, name, and authentication credentials (including OAuth tokens from Google, GitHub, or Apple).
User Content: Datasets, chatbot configurations, text input, voice dictation transcripts, and any other content you create or upload.
Usage Data: How you interact with the service, features used, timestamps, and session information.
Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers.

4. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the Village Data service
To debug, test, and improve the platform during alpha development
To communicate with you about the service, updates, and issues

To process your content through AI services (OpenAI) for features like knowledge extraction and chatbot responses

5. Third-Party Services

Village Data uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

Supabase: Database, authentication, and file storage
OpenAI: AI processing for knowledge extraction, embeddings, and chatbot responses
Google, GitHub, Apple: OAuth authentication providers
DigitalOcean: Cloud infrastructure hosting

Each of these services has their own privacy policies. Your use of Village Data constitutes acceptance of data processing by these third parties.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

ALPHA WARNING: We may delete all user data at any time during the alpha phase. This includes:

Complete database resets during development
Removal of inactive accounts
Data cleanup for testing purposes
Migration failures that result in data loss

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. However, during the alpha phase, we cannot guarantee complete removal from all backup systems or development environments.

7. Data Security

While we implement reasonable security measures, during the alpha phase:

Security vulnerabilities may exist and be discovered
Encryption and access controls are still being hardened
We cannot guarantee protection against all threats
You should not store any data that would cause harm if exposed

8. Your Responsibilities

By using Village Data during the alpha phase, you agree to:

Maintain your own backups of any important data
Not upload sensitive personal information (SSN, financial data, medical records, passwords, etc.)
Accept the risk of data loss without compensation
Report bugs and provide feedback to help improve the service

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy at any time during the alpha phase. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any changes. We will attempt to notify users of significant changes but are not obligated to do so during alpha.
